MATANZAS, Cuba- It was a long day at the ballpark for the Junior National Team as three games were completed today with a total of 17 1/3 innings played as the Cuba Summer Series entered the home stretch. First baseman Justin Morneau (New Westminster, B.C) of the Colorado Rockies has been added to the National League list of nominees for this year’s All-Star Game at Target Field in Minneapolis. Manager Mike Matheney and Major League Baseball announced the NL All-Star selections Sunday night, and presented five nominees for the final spot. Morneau’s competition will come from second basemen Anthony Rendon (Nationals), first baseman Anthony Rizzo (Cubs), third baseman Casey McGehee (Marlins) and left fielder Justin Upton (Braves).

Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a systemic approach being developed and adopted by Baseball Canada to maximize a participant's potential and involvement in our sport. The LTAD framework aims to define optimal training, competition and recovery throughout an athlete's career to enable him / her to reach his / her full potential in baseball and as an athlete.
